Arirang

Arirang is one of Korea's most revered folk songs.  Kids are taught this song at a very young age and all Koreans could recite it on a moment's notice.  It was even produced in a rock-n-roll format for the World Cup soccer games.

Arirang, Arirang, Arariyo...
Arirang gogaero neomeoganda.
Nareul beorigo gasineun nimeun
Simnido motgaseo balbyeongnanda.

Cheongcheonghaneuren byeoldo manko
Urine gaseumen kkumdo manta

Jeogi jeo sani Baekdusaniraji
Dongji seotdaredo kkonman pinda

Arirang, Arirang, Arariyo...
I am crossing over Arirang Pass.
The one who abandoned me here
Will not walk even ten feet before their feet hurt.

Just as there are many stars in the clear sky,
There are also many dreams in our hearts.

There, over there that mountain is Baekdu Mountain,
Where, even in the middle of winter days, flowers bloom.

Listen to Arirang
